How to install an eSIM on iPhone, step by step

Installation takes 1 to 2 minutes. Do it before you leave, on Wi-Fi: the eSIM uses nothing until you start using it in the covered country.

Before you start

  • An eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked iPhone (XS, XR and later; see the compatibility check).
  • A stable Wi-Fi connection during installation.
  • Your order email or the order page in your account: QR code, installation link and activation code.

Method 1: one-tap installation

On iOS 17.4 and later, this is the simplest method: everything happens on the iPhone, with no second screen.

  1. On the iPhone, open the Alizeoo email or the order in your account, then tap Install in one tap.
  2. An Apple window opens: tap Continue, then Add Mobile Data Plan.
  3. Name the new line Alizeoo so you can recognise it easily.
  4. Choose your usual line as the default line and for iMessage and FaceTime, and Alizeoo for mobile data.

Method 2: with the QR code

  1. Display the QR code on another screen (computer, tablet or another phone).
  2. On the iPhone, open Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM.
  3. Tap Use QR Code and scan the code. If the iPhone asks, tap Continue, then Add Mobile Data Plan.
  4. Name the line Alizeoo, then set up the lines as in method 1: mobile data on Alizeoo.

The QR code can only be used once. If it is rejected, do not keep scanning it: first check in Settings → Mobile Data whether the Alizeoo line is already installed.

No second screen? Use method 1, or enter the details manually: in Add eSIM, choose to enter the details yourself and copy the SM-DP+ address and activation code shown in your order.

When you arrive: activate the line

  1. Open Settings → Mobile Data and tap the Alizeoo line.
  2. Turn on Turn On This Line, then Data Roaming.
  3. Check that Mobile Data is set to Alizeoo. Wait a minute or two for the network to appear.

To avoid charges from your usual operator, turn off data roaming on your usual line. You can leave the line itself on to receive calls and texts: see keeping your main number.

Not working?

Follow the checklist in eSIM not connecting: line turned on, data on Alizeoo, roaming, Airplane Mode, restart, network selection.

Frequently asked questions

Can I transfer my Alizeoo eSIM to a new iPhone?

Do not rely on Apple's automatic transfer: it is designed for operators' eSIMs. If you change iPhone before using the plan, contact support from your order, without deleting the old eSIM.

Should I delete the eSIM after my trip?

You do not have to. A deleted eSIM generally cannot be reinstalled: keep it if you think you might top it up, and simply turn the line off.
